The Museum has an international reputation and attracts visitors from all over the world. The archaeology collections are among the finest in Britain and trace the history of people living in Wiltshire in a series of galleries - Neolithic, Bronze Age, Iron Age, Roman, Saxon, and Medieval. The collections on display include finds associated with the World Heritage Sites of Avebury and Stonehenge.

Other galleries at the museum include Recent History, which describes aspects of life in Wiltshire in modern times and Natural History where you can explore the geology and wildlife of the county, including the famous chalk downland.

There is an art collection relating to Wiltshire with a small selection always on display on the walls stairwells of the museum. In the Art Gallery a programme of exhibitions from this collection or the works of contemporary artists, while a Temporary Exhibitions area has a constantly changing series of displays.

Opening Times:

The Museum is open 10am - 5pm, Monday to Saturday and noon - 4pm on Sundays.
The Library is open 10am - 5pm Tuesday - Friday and 10am - 1pm/2pm - 5pm on Saturdays EXCEPT for the first Saturday of every month, when it is closed.

Admission:

£4 Adults
£3 concessions
£1 for Children under 16 (first child in group, others are admitted FREE - except school groups). Entry is FREE for members of the WANHS (the Society which owns the Museum and Library), Salisbury & South Wiltshire Museum, Museums Association, National Art Collections Fund and the English Tourist Board. Library admission is included in the Museum charge.
Museum admission is FREE for all on Sundays.
